We have been in Texas almost a week now and will be heading to Florida on Friday. I feel fat and lazy because when I come here I
am fat and lazy. It's nice. I'm almost done with my newest book
The Host by Stephenie Meyer. Great book, but I know I'll finish it before we leave so I need to find a new book to read while in Florida. Any suggestions? We've had a fun time so far and it is going fast. Here's a Reader's Digest version recap:
4th of July - I love this holiday! It is seriously one of my favorites. I love this country and I love the freedoms and opportunities we have simply because we live here. We are so blessed.
That morning, me, my mom and my sister all got up to run in the Denton "Liberty 5k Fun Run". My time was 27:34. I thought it was fun, and they acted like they didn't think it was fun, but I think they secretly did. AND my mom placed 2nd in her age division. How rockin' is that?

The 4th of July also happens to be my grandma's birthday, so we celebrated her 88th birthday that day, also. She is in a nursing home, which makes me sad to see her that way, but she was singing along to the songs and I think she enjoyed the company. Even my Uncle Benny was here from North Carolina.
That night we went to the fireworks show at the UNT football stadium. It's fun because you can be out on the field playing around and listening to fun bands before the show. The kids had fun playing football and frisbee with their cousins. Little Man was totally freaked out at the beginning of the fireworks and was crying, but by the end he was clapping although still wary. And can I just say that I love that here in Texas when they play Toby Keith's "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue" during the fireworks show that no one writes asinine letters to the editor or other such nonsense, but instead cheer with more gusto?

Texas Reception - Very nice, very fun and low key. My boys sure looked handsome and more than enjoyed themselves on the dance floor and stuffing their faces with good food. Big J told me he ate "5 sandwiches, 3 pieces of cake, and 15 cups of punch" because he thought it was really cool how it poured out of the fountain. I don't know if that's true, but I wouldn't put it past him. Here are a few pics to give you a taste of what went on:

All in all, it's been a great week. I'll post more after our week at the beach!
