I am still amazed at this. It is so foreign to me. He doesn't even want me to help him in the bathroom anymore unless I need to wipe his bum. I will ask him occassionally if he needs to go, but he just takes himself most of the time. I don't know why we were given this blessing, but, hey, I'll take it!
In other news, I went to the dr. on Friday, a day before my official 30 week mark, and I was measuring 34 weeks. I told you I was HUGE and that proves it! My dates aren't wrong, I'm just ginormous. The most I've measured big with my other kids is 3 weeks bigger with Little Man, but then he kind of evened out and I only measured one or two weeks bigger after that. She wanted me to do another ultrasound sometime soon, but after talking to her, we decided it could wait since there isn’t anything she can do about it now anyway (and since we are paying all this out-of-pocket, I wasn't too anxious to pay for a fourth ultrasound).
She brought up the possibility of having a c-section because I have had large babies in the past and if this one is already measuring so big she said it could easily be 10 ½ pounds! I don’t want that, but I know I do not want a c-section, either. Mostly, because they scare me. Plus, Little Man was my biggest at 9 lbs. 4 oz., but his labor, delivery, and recovery was my easiest. Also, I somehow have not gotten stretch marks on my stomach after 4 pregnancies and I would hate to have to get a scar on this last one. I know that's a dumb, superficial reason, but it is the truth. I might go for it if she threw in some free liposuction while she was at it, but otherwise I'm not a big fan. Besides, how in the heck do they think I would not be able to pick up things or drive or not do anything for 6 - 8 weeks or whatever the recovery time is? That's just impractical at my house. I’m thinking that I can just be induced early like I was with all the others and everything will be fine. Right?

I'd take her up on it if I were you. :-) I've had a baby both ways now. If a third were even a consideration (which its not) and given the choice I would definately do c-section. I can't even see my scar and it wouldn't be seen even with a bikini (which you wouldn't catch me in anyway) AND you get to stay in the hospital for 5 days and have people take care of your every whim. If I remember right, since its been 7 years, I think I was told not to do anything strenuous for a couple of weeks. That meant Mike had to go up and down the stairs to take care of laundry!
Yeha- rub in the whole stretch marks thing again...
rogersinkc - I obviously don't know all the details about a c-section because I've never had to, but any type of surgery scares me. And even the whole "5 days in the hospital" thing is not appealing, because that's $500 extra a day just for the hospital stay alone and what would I do with my other kids? And anywhere we go in our house requires stairs. It's just a bad idea all around to me. But I value your insight since you've had it both ways! Not many people can say that.
Sister - Whatever. I didn't say I didn't have any stretch marks. Jsut not on my stomach. Hips are a different matter entirely.
You know me... anti c-section!!
if you can do it with three then you can do it with the fourth.... I also had a 9 4 baby and he was my easiest...it was just how it was.. but Nathan was the fourth and it was just as easy as the others...you have a body that delivers babies easily..so you can do it.. this DR is paranoid! and she/he is putting that fear into you... block that "BAD" energy!!
NO C-SECTION!! If you can prevent it then don't do it. If it is emergency then you have no choice. T was 10 pounds and I hate to admit this but he practically fell out. If it was your first and there was a chance of a 10 pounder then it might be harder but where you have already had a "bigger" baby it shouldn't be that bad. Just induce earlier like you did with the other three. I'm with Gretch, block out the negative vibes from the MD. Also, if you are doing this out of pocket why would you ever opt for a c-section. Your doctor needs to be looking at the whole picture. If you need a c-section then you do but so far I don't see legitimate reasons.
